Mexican American cinematographer specializing in documentary films, best known for his work in Latin America and the Middle East. He has operated as an independent filmmaker in over 50 countries, earning several honors including seven Emmy® Awards, a Peabody, and two BAFTA nominations. His visual tone, influenced by his early days as a photojournalist, delivers an intimate and, at times, unvarnished look into our world, and has been recognized with a Pulitzer Prize, the Bayeux-Calvados Normandy Award, and two World Press Photo Awards.
